The plains of averice
the years leading up to the day of fall and dawn were full of war and turmoil. it was easy to miss the changing happening all around. but one thing the people all saw was the lowering tide and the loss of the great seas.

now years later the ocean is gone and in its place hundreds of miles of grassy rolling hills known as
the plains of averice. iT GOT THIS MONICER DUE TO THE BEINGS THAT ONE MIGHT ENCOUNTER THERE, WARPED NIGHTMARE CREATURES THAT EVEN THE MOST DEPRAVED MIND COULD NOT HOPE TO INVENT.

IT ALSO DEVIDES THE WORLD INTO NATIONS CUTTING THEM OFF LIKE THE SEA ONCE DID, AS AVRAGE FOLK FEAR WANDERING INTO THE WIND SWEPT GRASS. THE ONLY SALVATION IS A PATH THEY CALL THE OLD ROAD. A ROUTE THAT CUTS THROUGH THE VALLEYS AND IS SELDOM MOLESTED BY THE STRANGE CREATURES. THE TOTEMIC CALL THESE ROADS HOME AND MANY WHO WOULD TRAVEL BETWEEN THE FOUR NATIONS WALK WITH THEM IN GROUPS FOR PROTECTION.
tHE CALL OF THIS ALIEN LANDSCAPE AND YET ANOTHER REASON FOR ITS NAMING IS THE FRUIT OF THIS PLACE. the SIRENS SONG THAT DRAWS THOSE BRAVE OR STUPID ENOUGH TO LEAVE THE ROAD. ARTIFACTS CALLED FRAGMENTS OF IV. SEEMING UNASSUMING IF ONE WERE TO STUMBLE UPON ONE WITHOUT PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT IT IS IT WOULD ONLY SEEM TO BE A IRON BALL no bigger than a balled fist WITH RUNIC MARKINGS. BUT A CONSTANT WAR OF ATTRITION IS BEING WAGED IN THOSE HILLSIDES OVER THESE. the horrible truth of the fragments of iv is that they hold near limitless arcane potential and a trained magic user can draw on them as a focus to complete virtually any task.

nO ONE GROUP TRULY CONTROLS THE PLAINS. THE MATRINS OF THE TOTEMIC ARE THE CLOSEST THING TO RULERS ON THE OLD ROAD. tHEY CHOOSE AS EACH REST STOP IF YOU CAN WALK WITH THERE CARAVAN OR NOT. TO TRAVEL ALONE IS A DEATH SENTENCE AND SO THEY BECAME DEFACTO LEADERS. OTHERWISE IT IS A LAWLESS PLACE.

THE FRAGMENTS HAVE BEEN TAPPED IN A SINGLE WAY THAT AS OF YET SEEMS TO LEAVE THE USER UNEFFECTED. THE AUTOMOTA, A NAME THE PEOPLE OF CRUDILEX GAVE FOR ALL THE MANY KINDS OF WAR MACHINES THAT PROWL THE PLAINS.

GOLEMS, TREE ENTS, OGRES, CLOCKWORKS, UNDEAD GIANTS, AND THE AUTOMOTA THEY ALL BORROWED THE NAME FROM. THESE WILDLY DIFFERENT HULKING WAR BEASTS HAVE A SINGLE THING IN COMMON. THEY ALL DREW THERE INCREDIBLE POWER FROM THE FRAGMENTS OF IV. THEY TAP INTO IT ALLOWING FOR LIMITED SAFE ACCESS TO THAT UNLIMITED POWER.
THE OUTRIDERS
mounted TRIBES OF OUTRIDERS. THOSE WILD ENOUGH TO GO HUNTING THE FRAGMENTS USING ANY AND ALL MEANS TO DO SO. DOWNING AUTOMOTA, SHATTERING TOTEMIC CARAVANS, EVEN FIGHTING ABERATIONS. THESE MADMEN ARE SURVIVORS IN THE AFTERMATH OF THE GREAT FALL AND THEY HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO LOSE.

THE OUTRIDERS ARE FEARED ALMOST AS MUCH AS THE MONSTERS OF THE PLAINS, PERSICELY BECAUSE THEY LOOK IN THE FACE OF DEATH AND INSTED OF FLEEING THEY SCREAM WAR CRIES AND EMBRACE IT.
